In Europe, Unique Formula Identifiers (UFI) are required under the CLP Regulation (Classification, Labelling, and Packaging) for hazardous mixtures that are classified with hazards. However, fragrance oils that do not require UFI codes typically fall into these categories:

Fragrance Oils That Do Not Require UFI Codes

1. Non-Hazardous Fragrance Oils

   • If the fragrance oil is not classified as hazardous (i.e., does not contain allergens, irritants, or flammable substances in dangerous concentrations), it does not need a UFI.

2. Diluted Fragrance Oils

   • If the oil is diluted below the threshold where its components would be classified as hazardous, a UFI may not be required.

How to Check If a UFI is Required

• Check the Safety Data Sheet (SDS): If the fragrance oil has hazard classifications (H-codes such as H315, H317, H226), it likely requires a UFI.
• Consult CLP Guidelines: If a mixture is classified as hazardous for health or physical reasons, it must be notified with a UFI.
